Steven's ticket & job interview

Monday, January 11, 2010

Steven has to go to court on Thursday.  When we were driving back up to Ohio after New Year's, he got a speeding ticket.  We were going through Canton, OH (about an hour south of Avon), and the speed suddenly dropped from 65 to 55, and neither of us saw it.  As soon as we realized it, we saw the flashing lights in the rearview mirror and it was too late.  So he got ticketed for going 72 in a 55.  Since he was going more than 10 over (or is it 15?  I can't remember), if he had just paid the ticket, he would have gotten his license suspended for 30 days.  So he had to hire a lawyer to try to get the speed reduced so he could keep his license.  He has to be at the Canton courthouse at 9 a.m. Thursday morning.  I just hope his lawyer knows what he's doing.  He's charging us enough, so he had better know what he's doing.

Funny thing is, I got Steven a radar detector for Christmas to avoid these types of situations.  That thing didn't go off until the cop's lights were already flashing.  Piece of junk!  It was one of the more expensive and better rated ones too!  As soon as we pulled away from the cop, I asked Steven if he wanted me to send it back.  I mean, he's never been pulled over before, and it just figures.

Anywho, I just hope that after Thursday, this whole thing is over with.

Onto other news, I have a job interview tomorrow!  It's for a part-time customer service position at an office supply store.  The pay is terrible, but I figured I'd go check it out anyway.  We'll see how it goes...
