Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Yesterday, Steven and I went to the Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival.  Steven's company is the major sponsor.  The parade started at 10 a.m., with floats all designed with duct tape.

Manco T. Duck, Duck brand's mascot, kicked off the parade.

The Bubble Wrap Bug.  The design is actually painted on.  It's not a vehicle wrap like you would expect.  Very cool.

Yes, this van it is completely covered in duct tape.  Go to Walmart and pick up some of the purple Totally Tie-Die duct tape to replicate this on your own vehicle.

Contestants from the Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest.  High school students submit formalwear completely designed with duct tape, then people cast votes on the Web site, and two couples are eliminated from the contest every week, American Idol style.  The first place couple gets $3,000 each, 2nd place gets $2,000 each, and 1st place gets $1,000 each.  Go look at the top 10 entries... it's unbelievable!

This girl was multi-talented.

Hippies.

I thought this dog-powered duct tape car was so cute!

I don't remember who these beauty queens were, but they're wearing cute duct tape dresses!

Go-Go Girls.

This Mazda Miata was brand new and they covered it in duct tape.  I think if you're going to do this, at least use a vibrant color and not standard silver.

After the parade, everyone went to a park where they had carnival-type rides, a duct tape craft tent, sales tents, food vendors, and all sorts of entertainment.

Me!
Steven showing his groovy side.

So if you're ever in Avon, Ohio in mid-June, you have to check out the Duct Tape Festival!
