Craft Room Daydream

Monday, October 25, 2010

I was sick this weekend.  Why does it always seem like whenever Steven's out of town I get a cold?  I couldn't hardly talk Thursday and Friday, but I actually felt a lot better by Saturday afternoon and by Sunday all that was left was a little cough.  But I think what really made me feel better is that I WON A GIVEAWAY!  I enter oh so many and have never won anything, but whatdya know I'm going through my blog roll Saturday morning and I see that I've won a stencil on Lemon Tree Creations (one of my most fave blogs) from Cutting Edge Stencils.  Oh man, I was so excited and haven't stopped thinking about how I'm going to put it to use.  I chose this one:

Isn't she beautiful?
My first thought was "I should paint the inside of my laundry closet a pale blue/gray and then do this stencil over it in a soft antique white!"  While that would be b-e-a-utiful, I don't know that it would coordinate with the rest of our wall colors and furnishings on the main floor of our house.  I could choose a different color other than a pale blue/gray of course, but no color schemes are speaking to me as much right now.  So then I thought "I know! I will do an accent wall in my lovely craft room (a.k.a. the bonus room), which is already painted blue (although a cheerier blue than my current infatuation)."  It's a long, narrow room over the garage with a singular window at one end.  I'm thinking a stenciled window wall would be just what the doctor ordered.

Oh how I wish I could join Centsational Girl's Mom Cave Contest for a chance to win $250 for my huge, cluttered, always unfinished craft room.  But alas, the contest ends tomorrow and I'm stuck here in Ohio while my room is in NC (thus no way to take pictures of how bad it really is).  Oh well, there's always next time.  However, going through other people's mom caves has really given me inspiration.  Just wait until I tell Steven about my plans...

"Babe, I have another project..."
"How much will it cost?"
"Oh, not that much..."
"Well, what is it?"
"I'm thinking we need to build a daybed for that mattress that's just sitting on the floor upstairs...

Replace those ceiling fans with 2 of these lovelies..."

"But those ceiling fans are brand new!"

"Nuh uh, they're 3 years old now... practically antiques!  Now where was I...

"Oh yes, I believe I am in need of a bookcase (you can't get mad at me for this one because I've been complaining for years!  I'm tired of our books being in random boxes and drawers throughout the house!  Plus I need pretty magazine files to hold all my MSLs and Real Simples!)...

...and just a few accessories...

Like this huge and lovely flower picture.

Who doesn't need a mirror in their craft room?  And these are so fun!

...I think I'll take one of these...

Of course I have to feed my current obsession with owls, but I think I would go with a brighter lamp shade.

...and one of these."

If I go with the chandys above, then I could bring in a little bling with this lamp!  Or maybe I should go with (faux) crystal chandeliers instead.  Oh decisions!

(Cue Steven getting out the checkbook.)  At least that's how it goes in my head.

Now really, my bloggy friends, is that too much to ask?  I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as I get around to doing anything with it.  But first comes the basement.  Then the garage.  And the kitchen needs some help.  Oh bother.
