All I want for V-Day is my shoe rack complete.

Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!

I woke up this morning feeling like I didn't really care about celebrating V-Day.  I like to go out to a nice dinner when it falls on a Friday or Saturday, but it's hard to get into the holiday spirit on a Monday.  After work, I really just want to go home, change into my PJs and chill on the couch.  We did decide to splurge and get some take out tonight, but that's as far as our V-Day plans are gonna take us.  And I'm okay with that.

Here's a cute picture of us from wayyy back in 2005.

Weren't we sweet?

See those watches we're wearing? We got them for each other in 2004, and we still wear them daily. If you need a good quality watch, you can't go wrong with a Citizen Eco-Drive! They're solar powered so we've never had to replace a battery or worry about them keeping good time.  Anywho, this pic just reminded me of exactly how long we've had our watches... now where was I?

Oh yeah, remember that awesome shoe rack I told you guys about months weeks ago?  Well, I've been furiously priming, painting, and sealing boards for a couple weeks and finally finished up on Friday.  So we set out with grand plans to complete the thing yesterday.  It didn't take long before we realized we have no carpentry skills whatsoever and gave up.  Seriously, I was a little too ambitious, and I think we need to start smaller.  So I'm putting the boards aside for some undetermined craft project and we're looking for another solution for the UHaul box of shoes.  I almost cried at our incompetence.  It's sad, really.

So, before I settle for an off-the-shelf shoe rack at Target (which is destined to be sub-par), I'm having California Closets and Closets by Design come out for design consultations to see what they can come up with for our master closet, not to mention how much it's gonna cost us.

Right now, we have standard ClosetMaid rods, with a nice wooden shelving system on one side.  The problem is, Steven can't get to his work pants because they're pushed way back into the corner and are thus hidden by his shirts hanging on a perpendicular rod.  There's really only one rod I can use because I can't reach the upper ones.  The wooden shelves are nice but aren't very functional.  All of our clothes are crammed in thus creating mountains of wrinkles which, as I've said before, we just live with because I don't iron.  Our closet is fairly small for a walk-in, which I understand, but I still think the space we do have could be put to so much better use.  The design consultations are free, so we'll just see what these two companies have to say.  I'm pretty ding dang dong excited about it though.  The perfect V-Day gift: a new closet.  (You know you're getting old when you don't dream of jewelry and chocolate, but instead of organizational solutions.  Sigh.)

I hope your day is filled with lots of love, laughter and organized shoes.
