Patio De-funkification

That's a word, right?

Well, even if it's not, that's what I did on July 4th.  I broke out our pressure washer (best. investment. ever.) and went to town on our green gooey patio.

But first, I realized I've never showed you guys the rocking chairs my mom gave me.  When they moved to their new house, they just didn't have a place for them any more which means I inherited them!  Wahoo!

Here they were before:

They had sat unfinished for years on their front porch, so I decided to give them a coat of glossy black spray paint.  It probably took at least 4 cans (this was back in March peeps, I can't remember!).  I don't have a traditional "after" photo, but you can glimpse them below.

Now, our back patio sits below our deck, and for some reason, there's green goo that forms in the shape of the slats of the deck.

After a good pressure washing...

Ahh... all nice and sparkly clean.

We bought our patio furniture at Lowes a couple years ago and it has held up beautifully (although we do try to bring it in during the winter).  We don't spend nearly as much time out here as we should.  Typically, by the time I get this space spruced up for the warmer months, it's simply too HOT and HUMID to spend much time out here.  Oh the joys of living in the south.  There are still some things I want to do out here, but I'll probably wait until next year to tackle those.  Does anyone else feel like summer's winding down already?  I mean, Hobby Lobby has their fall and Christmas stuff out, Target's back-to-school section is in full swing, and tax-free weekend is only a few weeks away!  Where does the time go?

  1. Thanks so much for visiting DIY Addict! I love your squeaky clean patio! My sun room will take a month to look that good, so I choose to ignore it's existence for now!

  2. Those chairs looks awesome painted black! We got a pressure washer a few years ago, and it is amazing all the gunk it can get off of concrete:)
