Wedding Week: How We Met

Monday, September 12, 2011

As if the title of this post didn't give it away, today kicks off Wedding Week here on the ol' blog!  Thursday is our four year anniversary (seriously, where did the time go?), so I thought I'd use this week to share a few things about how we ended up together.

First up, how we met.

It was my first semester of college at Appalachian State University, way back in 2003.  I was dating a complete LOSER, when, while sitting in my dorm one night, I received a message from someone on partyapp.com.  (This was before Facebook, peeps.  I just googled Party App because I was going to include a link here, but it doesn't even exist anymore - SAD!  Anywho, it was a message board for ASU students.  Several colleges had them.  I think it was called the Party in College network.  Okay, getting off topic...)  It was a simple message, and I'm not even sure why I responded to it, other than I was bored.  That random stranger turned out to be Steven.  We instant messaged (Remember AIM?  Does anyone still use that?) for a few weeks, then decided to meet up one night (at this point I still had a boyfriend and Steven could have been a serial killer for all I knew).  We saw Mona Lisa Smile (Steven hated it, and still does), went to the mall, and ate Chick-Fil-A.  I finally broke up with my boyfriend a few weeks later and Steven and I had our official first date.  We saw Win a Date with Tad Hamilton.  A couple weeks later, we officially started dating.  February 18th, 2004.  He told me he loved me on March 23rd.  (Okay, I won't lie, I'm not sure of the EXACT date, but I know it was late March.  Forgive me, Babe!)  Steven was in his first year of grad school at ASU, making him four years older than me.  As they say, the rest is history.

Our first photo together.  I think this was Valentine's Day 2004.

Our first vacation together.  Myrtle Beach 2004.

Our friend's wedding, 2005.

Steven's grad school graduation, 2005.

Our three year anniversary, 2007.

Tomorrow: Our Engagement!
