31 Days of Anti-Laziness: Painting His and Hers

Saturday, October 8, 2011

Hello, hello!  As you're reading this, I'm kicking up my heels in Nashville visiting my baby brother, so I had to be really anti-lazy in the last couple of days to finish a couple of projects to post this weekend.  Tonight means a spooky walking ghost tour in downtown Nashville - so excited!

I installed some fabulous hooks in my bathroom in oh, January with the intention of doing some sort of "his" and "hers" signs above them.  Since then but I've been kind of indecisive about what to do, but with this being the month of anti-laziness I decided to just do something.

I measured the wall to decide what size my signs needed to be, then typed up the words in Photoshop (Font: Mister Earl.  Free download here).

I rubbed a pencil on the back of the paper...

...taped it up in the correct place on the wall...

...and traced the letters.

(Sorry about the poor photos to come... this corner of the bathroom is hard to photograph!)

Why buy transfer paper when this method is so easy?

I picked up some new Martha Stewart craft paint at Michaels in "Pool" which matches the hand towels in my bathroom.

Coverage wasn't so good.  First coat...

...starting on the second coat...

...and after the third coat!

Here they are!

I think it adds a little extra something to that wall and it was such a quick and easy project!  It probably took an hour total.  I'm still looking for something else to add above the his and hers, but haven't found the right thing yet.

You can find the rest of my 31 Days series here.

  1. This would never work for Scott and me. I can just imagine myself yelling at Scott for putting his towel ONCE AGAIN on my hook.
