Our Doomed Office

Today, Nester's having an It's Not Perfect But It's Beautiful link party and I worked on something yesterday that fit the bill perfectly.

Our office.

It's the one space in our house that just becomes a dumping ground.  It was really not too bad before Thanksgiving, but somehow, this became the room where I stashed all our Christmas gifts until I felt like wrapping them and the room went on a downward spiral from there.  I had been meaning to tackle it for weeks now, and finally found the motivation.  Mostly because I was tired of keeping this door shut all the time.  So here it was in all its glory.

Let's see... boxes of books (waiting for a bookshelf) in the corner, a file box, random bed linens on the chair (anyone need a queen sized green and blue reversible quilt and 4 shams?), a pile of trash in the middle of the room (Steven did that, not me.  Although I do have to admit that the cardboard box is mine.)  Then there's the closet...

I keep my extra decorative items and seasonal decor in here (except for fall and Halloween stuff which have their own bins in the basement), but I haven't been able to access any of it for quite a while now.  Just a sampling of what's in here: placemats and cloth napkins, a vintage Xbox, a bag full o' cords for various purposes, gift bags and wrapping paper, a collection of Steven's shirts that he no longer wears but refuses to get rid of... oh, and rain boots.  Here's the after, and while it doesn't look like much, believe me, it's wayyy better.

Now with all of the crap out of the room, I can breathe again...

...except...

This room is just doomed.

  2. That is too funny! I'm a hider ... I'm keep buying furniture that doubles as storage and then hide things in there. And then I forget about what I've hidden. And then I go out and buy more (paint, paper, markers, paint brushes .... etc.) ... and that new stuff gets stashed and the cycle continues!

  4. Hahaha I SO do that trash pile thing! Unfortunately, the only room in my house that does NOT look like this is my bedroom. Well, and the kitchen, mostly. I don't think I could ever have kids...I can't keep up as it is!
