Quilled Monogram: L

Monday, April 9, 2012

I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend!  Steven had to go back to work today, while I have another relaxing day ahead of me. :)

My friend's birthday was a couple weeks ago, and she specifically requested a quilled monogram.  Wish granted!

I think this is my favorite one that I've ever done!  (You can check out my past quilling projects here.)

If you'd like to try your hand at quilling (it's way easier than it looks!), just get yourself a tool (I have this set), some quilling paper (or cut 1/4" strips of any paper you want) and get started!  For the backer board, I type my letter in Photoshop, change the color to white, and set a stroke of 3 px in a very light gray.  That way I have something to follow for the outline of my letter, but if it's not perfect, it won't be that noticeable.  I print the letter on heavier card stock (~50#) to give the quills a firmer base.  Seriously, if you print your letter on regular printer paper, your results won't be as good.  I create my quills, then use Mod Podge to adhere them to the paper.

Let me know if you've done any quilling before - I'd love to see!
