State Love Canvas

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Remember my gallery wall?  Yeah, I haven't worked on it in a few weeks, so I thought it was about time that I make another addition.

This time, I thought I'd show some state love.

I mean, really, I can't imagine living anywhere but North Carolina.  Sure, we did some time in Ohio, and it was fine, but it just doesn't compare to NC.  We've got the mountains and the beach, not to mention all the lovely mild weather.  Ahh, NC, I love you.

I used my favorite transfer method:  rub pencil on back of computer print out, lay it on canvas, trace over front, and voila!

Then I grabbed some paint that matched my room.  On my first attempt, I painted the background gold, but it doesn't really go on opaque, even after 4 coats, so I let it dry completely and went back over it with black.

Here she is in all her lovely state glory.

Here's a shot a little further back where you can see my ribbon wrapped canvas and herringbone canvas, but just ignore those big fat FAILS under the black X's.  I'll get around to fixing those eventually...

Linking to these parties.
