Un-pimped Cabinets

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Remember last July when I pimped my cabinets?  Well, they've looked exactly like this for the past year and I walked into the kitchen one day and decided that I was over it.  So I took about 20 minutes and got everything down, dusted/washed it, and gave these things a new home (even if it was in the disaster that is our office closet).

So, my cabinets went from this...

...to this!

Talk about an exciting before and after, ha!  I'm thinking I want to start a collection that will live up there.  Milk glass, perhaps?  But for now, I'm loving how clean it feels.

Probably my favorite thing that was up there is this blue crate I got at an antiques show last year.  It's pretty, rustic, and chunky, just the way I like 'em!

I filled four glass vases (already in my stash, from Goodwill) with forsythia and plopped it on my dining room table.  I'm thinking I might substitute the forsythia with wheat when September rolls around and this will be a pretty fall centerpiece.

I also promised last week to show you these pretty pinecones I got at a tag sale.

They're solid metal (although not silver, so I'm not really sure what they are) and heavy as can be.  I think I paid $5 for this little trio and I love them so much.

If you're wondering where the two other brass candlesticks I got at the tag sale went, I just set them here for now, but I'm thinking they'll play a bigger role in a fall vignette later on.

School is officially back in session now so I have a to-do list a mile long for those three free mornings a week.  I've gotten a ton accomplished this week (although nothing I can show you yet - stay tuned for the announcement of my 31 Days of Change topic!) and may even get ahead of schedule (ack, did I just jinx myself?).  So anyway, what have you been up to lately?  Has school started where you live?
