The Christmas Basement

Thursday, December 20, 2012

When we bought our house 5.5 years ago, we called the large room in our basement the Game Room.  For 2+ years, all that resided in this room was Steven's poker table, so it truly was just a game room.  When we moved back from our year-long stint in Ohio in 2010, we turned the Game Room into more of a family room, where we now spend most evenings chillin' on the couch catching up on the DVR.  Somehow, our terminology has evolved and we no longer call this room the Game Room, even though I like that moniker much better.  Now it's simply The Basement.  Or, less formally, Downstairs.  So, welcome to our Christmas Basement!

This 7.5' artificial tree (from Walmart for $99) holds all of our sentimental ornaments and Steven's favorite colored lights.

This is the first year I've done a tree with JUST colored lights, and I kind of like the look.  It provides excellent mood lighting in the evening too.  :)

We also have this little table top tree leftover from our college days.  For the past couple of years, it has been upstairs sporting all my rustic ornaments, but since I put those on our silver & white tree this year, this one has a new theme:  Coke!

The tree topper is actually a salt shaker (I give all the credit to Steven for that one!).  When I planned this tree, I really thought we had more than 3 Coke ornaments, so I had to add some red balls to fill it out.

I found the Coke Santa and vending machine at a Christmas show last month and knew I HAD to get it for Steven.  In case you're new here, we have a Coca-Cola Vendo V-81D on the other side of this room.  Click here to see it.

The Santa and puppy in the middle are salt and pepper shakers.

I  mean, isn't this cutie vending machine decked out with a wreath so, well, cute?!  I'm a sucker for anything in miniature form.

I hope you are all enjoying this Christmas season as much as I am, but I just wish it would slow down.  5 DAYS TIL CHRISTMAS - AHH!
