Snapshots: John and Sherry Edition

Thursday, February 7, 2013

On Tuesday night, something super exciting happened.  I went to a book signing for Young House Love!  It was in the Student Union at UNC Charlotte, and the room was packed.

I convinced my friend Jessie to go with me.  She had never heard of YHL before (blasphemy, I know!), so she's now their newest fan.  ha.  We got to sit until our row was called to get in line to meet John and Sherry.  Yay for not having to stand for 2 hours!

Finally, we were in line, waiting our turn and I was starting to get nervous.

I just noticed that my fingernails match the paint can on the cover of their book.  Totally planned that.

Jessie bought a book for her and one for her mom.

And then we were next in line... I think my face says it all.

Totally starstruck.

So, I really wanted to make John and Sherry something and of course, the first thing that came to mind was pop art.  I stole one of Clara's monthly photos and made them match the color scheme of her big girl room.

Do you think Sherry liked them?

It was kinda weird to meet someone in person that you've only ever seen online.  And to feel like you know every single thing about them.  Kinda makes you feel stalker-ish.  ha.  I was going on and on about YHL to Jessie the whole time we were waiting, trying to fill her in on what John and Sherry are all about.  I'm sure she thought I was one of those crazy fans.  Like the Claymates.  Or Beliebers.  Or Directioners.  Or Little Monsters.  What should YHL fans be called?  Lovers?  Wait, that sounds wrong.  Umm... Petersikians?  Or how about the Ceramic Animals?

Thanks so much for coming with me and letting me convert you to a Ceramic Animal, Jessie! xo

No, thank you, John & Sherry!  Thank you for doing what you do and letting the whole world follow along!

  1. I have to admit, I have no idea who they are, but it looks like so much fun! I can tell how excited you were!

  2. I was there too!! Would have been fun to meet you! That's a great gift, I'm sure they loved it.

  3. I am soooo glade I am not alone. Your post perfectly described my experience, just mine was more awkward. I had been working on a cross stitch version of their logo and didn't finish in time, so I had to tell them about it and ask for a P.O. Box address. I hope they see us as loving fans/readers and not crazy stalkers to be scared of. :)
