Post-Maternity Wardrobe

Thursday, December 19, 2013

I'm at the point in my pregnancy where I daydream about wearing normal clothes again.  In case you haven't heard, maternity clothes suck.  The options are very limited and no one wants to spend a ton of money on clothes that will be worn such a short amount of time.  I've already outgrown the maternity jeans I bought in my second trimester.  Shouldn't maternity jeans be made to last the whole time?  I still try to wear them occasionally but the band cuts into my belly so much that I have to stand every thirty minutes or so and tug on it to give the belly a rest.  I'm pretty sure that's not healthy for Baby P.  She's probably suffocating in there!  Oh, and shirts without stretch?  Fuggedaboutit.  They don't hug the belly and end up just looking... odd.  Maybe I should start designing maternity clothes because obviously those who design them have never actually been pregnant.  Okay, that turned into more of a diatribe than I meant it to... I digress.

So.  I'm asking for some gift cards for Christmas because I will have very few things to wear post-baby.  Last spring, I got rid of a ton of winter clothes and only kept my absolute favorites, so I know my wardrobe will be pretty slim.  Also, I have no idea what size I'll be... I'm hoping to return to my pre-prego size, but who knows how long that will take (maybe a week?  two?  I kid.)

I did a little online window shopping and picked out a few favorites.  I can't wait to actually be able to wear some of these!

First, I'll need a few casual things for everyday.  1 and 2 stray a little bit from what I would normally pick out for myself, but they're so darn cute that I think I just have to try to pull them off.  That heather tan color in 3 and 4 is majorly trending right now and I love it.  A cable knit sweater is a must-have for me, and I just love this bright lemon color.

I think I will also need some layers.  All of these are fab.

Eventually, it will be time to return to work and I love all of these options.  I work in a really casual office environment, and pairing any of these with jeans would be the perfect mix of office appropriate yet comfy and casual.  (P.S. I must have #5.  I love it so much that the matching skirt makes an appearance below.  Wearing them together would be a little too matchy-matchy for me though.)

Then I will need a few things that I can dress up for church, or just whenever I feel like putting in a little extra effort.  Cords are everywhere right now, and even though I haven't had a pair since elementary school, I think I need to give them a try.

A lot of the items I've linked to above are 20-40% off right now, so go shopping!  Just don't buy my size. :)  I expect to be at home, cuddled up with a newborn, spending my gift cards like crazy.
