confessions of an e-mail lover

Monday, June 2, 2014

If you're anything like me, you are on way too many mailing lists.

I get approximately 30 e-mails a day from everyone from Anthropologie to Zappos.  (Actually, I think Zappos is the one mailing list I'm not on, but I needed a retailer that started with a Z, mmkay?)

I could unsubscribe from a few of them, but for the most part, I want to know when Gap is having a 40% off entire purchase sale or when Crocs has debuted a new shoe (seriously, they have some cute shoes), and don't even get me started on the Groopdealz e-mails - those are dangerous.  There are very few that I actually click on - the subject line tells me all I need to know - but Groopdealz must always be clicked on.  You just never know when you might need a monogrammed luggage tag or an anchor necklace!  I mean, c'mon people, their cute stuff and cheap prices are too good to pass up most of the time.  Anywho, I digress...

So, I got this e-mail today, thought "What the heck is Wallternatives and how did they get my e-mail address?!" (Am I the only one who gets a little ragey when I know I haven't signed up for a new mailing list?  If I've signed up for the 110th e-mail list, I'm fine, but if a company goes selling my e-mail addy, then I get angry.)  Anyway, man I'm long-winded today, this e-mail from Wallternatives stood out from the masses.  Apparently it's a new vinyl segment of Royal Design Studio (you know, the stencil company), and I just had to share this graphic with you.  It did my design-loving heart good.

First of all, LOVE the use of color.

Second of all...

Wallternatives?  Catchy McCatcherson.
Pattern for the People?  Um, yes, please.
Sticky Not Tacky?  Really, whoever came up with that slogan deserves the Nobel Prize in cleverness.

If you are a retailer and your e-mail makes me smile or chuckle, you can be sure that I will visit your site.  Oh, and maybe even share it with my dozen or so readers. (Anyone still out there?)

P.S. If it's not obvious, this is not a sponsored post and Wallternatives doesn't know I exist.
