a baby girl's spring/summer 2018 capsule wardrobe.

A couple years ago, I wrote a post entitled "Building a Mix-and-Match (Capsule) Wardrobe for Kids."  In that post I outlined the 4 "rules" I follow when shopping for kids clothes.  I'll recap real quick here:

1. Each article of clothing should have 3 other articles of clothing that can be worn with it.
2. Each piece should have something "special" (i.e. a cute detail).
3. Solid colors and neutrals are your friend, but...
4. Mix in a few patterns for interest.

Be sure to click over to the post to read about my method in more detail, but today I thought I would share an update to that post with a baby girl's spring/summer 2018 capsule wardrobe!

In the last couple of years, Amazon has really been a go-to spot for fashion.  Sometimes, I still have a hard time wading through all the junk to get to the good stuff, but once I find the good stuff, it's good.    When I was shopping recently, I realized that Carter's has an Amazon-only clothing line for kids and baby called Simple Joys by Carter's.  I think we can all agree that the retail landscape is changing and Amazon is at the forefront of that movement.  No longer is Amazon a dumping ground for retailers' closeouts, but retailers are creating specific lines, just to be sold on Amazon.  That's how important Amazon is in the retail world in 2018.  But as you'll see, part of Amazon's strategy is large pack sizes so they can charge higher retails and therefore make more margin and save on shipping costs (especially since so many people have Prime and thus don't pay for shipping).

All of that to say, some good deals can be had on Amazon, if you're willing to look, but don't expect to find one pair of baby pants - you'll end up buying 4. :)

So let's get into the capsule (also note: only 3 of these items are from Amazon, the rest are Carter's/Osh Kosh direct, because that's where I do a lot of shopping for my girls).

Obviously the way I shop for a baby is different than the way I shop for a preschooler - you'll see a lot of bodysuits and one-piece sets.

1. A set of 2 dresses and a romper make this such a cute set to pick up.

2. A pack of 6 ADORABLE basic tanks with a ruffle sleeve detail are so versatile and go with everything from the #6 pants to the #9 overalls.

3. This little top has lemons on it and apparently I'm obsessed with lemons these days because I can't get enough.  Pair this one with the #5 shorts and the #6 dark pink pants.

4. This gingham bodysuit with a pom pom sleeve trim will be SO cute with the #9 overalls and the #5 shorts.

5. I've bought S2 several pairs of these sun shorts every year since she was born. I can't get enough of them because they are so comfortable, have so many color options that go with everything and are just a high quality clothing item.

6. A pack of 4 pants with a ruffle butt and a ruffle hem are such great basics that go with everything.

7. I always like to throw in a graphic tee, especially if it has a retro sporty vibe.  Pair this with the #5 shorts or the #6 pants.

8. Back to my lemon obsession with a lemon romper.  These are so easy for baby for the summer and Carter's has so many to choose from.

9. These are the best overalls ever and I buy them every year.

I hope this is helpful when shopping for your baby girl this year!

In other news, today is my last day home with Baby R before I go back to work.  Ugh how did the time go so fast?!  Pray for me you guys, I need it!
