I mostly use the same white, silver and rustic ornaments on our living room tree year after year, but I like to throw in a new element that switches up the look a bit. This year, it was a buffalo check ribbon. I cut 18″ pieces, pinched them in the middle, stuck the pinched part into the tree, and then tucked the tails around to make it look like the ribbon was weaving in and out.
I LOVE our mantel this year. I saw these bottle brush trees in someone’s IG stories and had to run out to Hobby Lobby to get a bunch for myself! They were $1-$4 each and I’m obsessed with them. I knew I had these colorful garlands and was hoping that the colors of these trees would work with them and whadya know, THEY DID!
The trough on the mantel usually lives on the kitchen island, but I love it so much here that I think I need another one for the island.
We actually use our fireplace a good bit, so moving the stockings to the bookshelves, while untraditional, made a lot of sense for us. That way we don’t have to take them down every time we turn on the fire. Plus I like that they jazz up the shelves.
I never get around to doing all the things I want to do at the holidays, and I’m starting to learn to be okay with that. I really wanted to put lights on the front porch columns this year but I don’t think that’s going to happen. NEXT year, though. NEXT year is going to be extra. Have I told y’all we’re planning to finish the basement? Eeeeek! (Well, at least part of it, which the budget will dictate.) That means an extra tree or two, and extra spaces to decorate. EXTRA EVERYTHING. 🎄
Have a great week, you guys!
